ARABLE farmers are being invited to learn about how to build a resilient industry at a farm near Ross-on-Wye next week.

Mark Wood is the farm manager at JPF Clay Farm at Fawley, which has a cropping rotation of wheat, oilseed rape, peas and oats.

A commercial grain storage facility, an extensively grazed beef herd and extensive private gardens are also on the estate.

Mr Wood has started a new 'monitor farm' project based at the site, which helps analyse the 1,000ha mixed farming business and set the direction for the farm.

A meeting will be held at Burnt House Grain Store in Gatsford between 1pm and 4.45pm on Thursday, where people can learn about the project and have a tour around the farm.

“The Monitor Farm scheme is a proven concept to share best practice and to help build a more resilient arable industry," said "Richard Laverick, head of regional development at Home Grown Cereals Authority (HGCA).

"With the agenda set and driven by farmers, it is a unique opportunity to test thinking on farm while facing real issues and I really hope you can be involved.”
