MORE than 50 German visitors from Hereford’s twin town Dillenburg got a guided tour of the Old Market as part of the celebrations marking the 25-year relationship.

A small town famed for its mining and place on the Timber Frame Road – similar to Herefordshire’s Black and White Trail – Dillenburg signed a twinning charter with Hereford in 1989.

This visit is the latest in a series of exchanges with the town – that have included sports matches and musical groups – with residents and town councillors being hosted by members of the City of Hereford Twinning Association.

Later this year, those members will be going on a similar trip of their own; visiting Vierzon in central France to mark the 20-year anniversary of its twinning status.

There are still vacancies for the tour – for more information contact Christine Iliff at 89 Ross Road, Hereford.
