PRESTEIGNE and Norton Twinning Association is ten years old and to celebrate they welcomed a large party of French friends from their twin town of Ligné in Brittany on the Mayday weekend. They were accommodated in private houses all over Presteigne and Norton and visitors, hosts and twinning association members enjoyed a full weekend of activities; these included a reception on the Friday night at the memorial hall involving both primary and secondary school musical treats as well as some delightful French songs by Lisa Bradbury accompanied by Katie Mohammed on piano. They also visited Shobdon church, Castlring and the Green Man festival in Clun, as well as spending time in the town of Presteigne with a lunch at the Jasmine Thai Restaurant. Friendships were renewed and everyone considered the weekend to be a great success.

The twinning association warmly welcomes new members (membership is free). You do not have to be a French speaker, many on the association are not. Contact Ruth Kirkby 01544 267811, ruthkirkby@btinternet.com or visit www.pnta.org.uk.
