Traffic heavy on routes into Hereford

Hereford Times: Traffic heavy on routes into Hereford Traffic heavy on routes into Hereford

Drivers in south Hereford are facing long queues as they make their way towards the city centre.

A lane closure on Victoria Street saw vehicles back up on Ross Road, Holme Lacy Road and Belmont Road.

Traffic even stretched as far back as the Clehonger turn on the A465.

The Highways Agency is planning to improve the road surface between the junctions of Barton Road and Edgar Street - and their work will begin tonight.

However, today's lane closure is believed to have been caused by gas works on Edgar Street.

My first day off in three weeks. Thought I would make a couple of trips to the tip. Big mistake!
Ended up travelling seventeen miles in total to go through Holme Lacey.
Still, got to see the new pavement at the Widemarsh street crossroads being dug up with a jackhammer though, after what, a week?!

That bit of road desperately in need of a repair but perhaps starting it on a Sunday would have been a better idea! Will really put off any visitors coming in to visit new development.

No sign of roadworks on victoria street this morning. The traffic was due to a lane closed by the subway and steel as there was work being done at the start of edgar street.

I went past that 6 ft square gas hole on Edgar Street (opposite Debenhams) at 5.45 pm tonight. It was dry and blazing with sunshine but zero work being done. Everyone had gone home for the night! And traffic was still all backed up down Ross Road! The urgency around the works seems minimal at most. So prepare for the worst tomorrow! In the morning at least!

Gave up and went to Morrison's at Ross. This is just what the new shopping centre needs. People trying to get to the new complex will soon be put of by the Hereford traffic and go elsewhere and never to return.

Whats with the endless amount of traffic cones? There are traffic cones all the way back along Victoria St as far the new bridge for a small hole that has been dug in Edgar St? They could of just placed cones from the junction before the lights on Newmarket St roundabout, this would have allowed traffic to still go along Whitecross Rd with no delays, sometimes I really do think the the highways agency need to get their act together, this is not rocket science! In the rest of Europe you will see a cones about a 100 metres before road works, giving plenty of warning. In the UK you see mile after mile of empty lanes with nobody working in them... As far as I am aware nobody was working here all day today.
