A HEREFORD college has won an award for its environmentally-friendly art studio.
The Arts Space at Hereford College for Arts' Folly Lane campus has been presented with the Green Apple Environment Award, which seeks out Britain's greenest companies.
The facility opened two years ago and houses a café and seating area for staff, students and visitors, and regularly hosts art exhibitions.
The building was created by Hewitt Studios LLP.
College principal, Richard Heatly, said: “We’re delighted to win this award. We worked very closely with Hewitt Studios throughout the whole design process.
"We wanted to use environmentally sound materials and processes without compromising on quality. As a result we’ve been left with a stunning and functional space that still continues to gain attention from architectural and design industries.”
The college competed against more than 200 other nominations for the award, which will be presented at a ceremony in London on June 30.
The awards are supported by the Environmental Agency, the Institute of Environmental Health and other independent bodies.
