PIRATES, bunting and cheese scones - Food and fun in St James.
April, nearly 50 people from St James area came together to cook, eat lunch and prepare for the Hereford River Carnival.
Part of a series of regular community cook-ups, Saturday the community cooked a delicious polish soup – with the expert help of local residents Kasia Redding and Monika Kupisiecncz, as well as fresh bread and cheese scones. While lunch was cooking, pirate captain (river carnival organiser) Leo Caithness helped local children to make bunting and pirate hats ready for the river carnival.
The next community cook-up and fun day will be on June 28. For more information contact Ali Straker ali@wordofmouse.org.uk
The food and fun day was organised by Greening the Village, a local community group based in St James area of Hereford city. See: https://www.facebook.com/greeningthevillage The food and fun days grew out of a local community bread making project that took place last autumn: Butter Side Up: https://www.facebook.com/ButterSideUpHereford
At the next food and fun day they hope to start to build a mobile community wood-fired bread oven.
