THE Ross-on-Wye branch of the Royal British Legion has been awarded £3,600 to mark the centenary of the First World War.
The Heritage Lottery Fund grant will enable people in the town to come together to remember the people who lived through the war.
Volunteers will collect photographs, newspaper clippings, documents and letters, while family tales passed down will help them build up a picture of what life was really like.
The information gathered will be digitally recorded and an online interactive archive will be created.
This will enable people to discuss, contribute, share and research information about the Home Front.
"We are thrilled to have received the support of the Heritage Lottery Fund - it has made such a difference and will help us to deliver a much better project," said Graham Aplin, chairman of the Ross branch of the Royal British Legion.
