HEAVY wind and rain is battering the county.

Herefordshire Council have had to bring in additional crews to help move fallen trees from roads around Herefordshire while other routes are currently closed due to flooding.

Roads shut off include Bakers Lane at Winforton and Breinton Road in Lower Breinton, which was closed after power cables came down.

The River Wye and the River Arrow are on flood alert and trains between Newport and Hereford are currently suspended because of flooding.

There are reports that the Tesco store in Bewell Street, Hereford, has experienced a leak.

Careful driving is needed around Madley and at roads leading in to Vowchurch and the Crossways at Peterchurch is flooded.

Dave Throup from the Environment Agency has reported that Hereford has just had almost half an inch of rain in the last hour.
