THIEVES tucked into turkeys this Christmas after breaking into a farm near Bromyard.

Police are appealing for information after eight packaged Kelly Bronze turkeys - believed to be worth a total of £800 - were taken from a property in Ocle Pychard on Sunday sometime between midnight and 6am.

Officers believe thieves accessed a refrigeration unit in one of the barns after gaining access through a gate at the rear of the yard.

Chris Ammonds, police spokesman, said: “The eight turkeys that have been stolen were each packed in their own individual box ready for cooking at Christmas.

“The turkeys were all Kelly Bronze birds and each box was labelled with this name.

“Six of the turkeys weighed 8kg and the other two weighed 9kg.

"Officers are keen to speak to anyone who may have seen any suspicious vehicles in the Ocle Pychard area over the weekend, or anyone who is offered the opportunity to buy any turkeys similar to the ones stolen from this farm."

Call 101 with information, quoting 176S 221213.”

This must be the work of the criminal types who live amongst us. It must be. All the hallmarks and telltale signs that this is the work of thieves are all there and evident to see. The sneaky tippy toeing into a building without permission, the taking away of property without paying for it or at least leaving a little note saying who they were and where they could be found. No, the Modus Operandi clearly suggest that thieves are responsible.
Mind, I'll not have it said that these are responsible thieves. They're all highly irresponsible if anything I say is worth a jot of notice. There's nothing responsible about stealing eight Turkeys!
Of course the most concerning thing about this investigation is are the Police behind them and if they are, how far behind them. I mean, if they had been on foot, lugging eight huge Turkeys around ,they could easily have walked to Birmingham by now and if, as the Police suspect, they had access to a car, they could have reached Dover which makes this crime all the harder to detect.

This has made the Nationals ......From the London Evening Standard........

The birds, which weigh between 8-9kg, were prepared as part of the KellyBronze range, which claims to be the 'most awarded' free range turkey provider in Britain.

Guess that somebody will be eating a nut roast in two days time ?

OMG that is pricey for a turkey. Kelly Bronze is a really nice bird though.

Anyone perturbed by the wind and rain, just remember, it is Gods crying and shouting. Let's just hope he doesn't need a Brad Pitt before January or we'll rally be in trouble, Ark or no Ark.

Picked up my turkey yesterday - a bargain apparently at £9.95 a kilo (retail) - a bronze specimen nicely packed in a fancy cardboard box - by my maths then these nicked ones are 50% more expensive than even my eye-wateringly expensive bird - I'd be looking for Kelly Gold with diamond giblets at least for that sort of money
