Police appeal after Bromyard schoolboy hit by a car

A statement from West Mercia Police said: "We are appealing for witnesses following a collision on February 5 on the A44 between the junctions of Winslow Road and Panniers Lane in Bromyard at 8.35am, when a pedestrian collided with a white Vauxhall Astra. The pedestrian was taken to hospital with serious injuries, not believed to be life threatening.

"Anyone who may have witnessed the collision, or has dashcam footage, is urged to contact PC Jon Lynes on jonathan.lynes@westmercia.police.uk or by calling 01432 347168."

The boy is a pupil at Queen Elizabeth High School in Bromyard. A statement from the school said: "A year seven pupil was involved in a road accident at 8.35am on the A44 at the crossing.

"A local trained paramedic was on the scene immediately along with other members of the public and school staff to attend to the young person, who had received injuries in the collision. Police and paramedics then attended.

"After assessment by ambulance staff the decision to transfer the pupil to hospital via air ambulance was taken.

"We wish the person a speedy recovery."

The road was closed for several hours following the incident.
